Rarely do companies let their employees know when layoffs will occur. Still, sometimes there are hints. Management may ask for volunteers to take early retirement or the CEO’s blog might mention the need to tighten belts and do what it takes to keep the business healthy. Managers might avoid staff or spend a lot of time in meetings. They may seem preoccupied.
